Timothy Snyder
Timothy Snyder is the Levin Professor of History at Yale University and Permanent Fellow at the Institute for Human Sciences, Vienna. A preeminent historian of Central and Eastern Europe, of political thought, and a public intellectual, his writings, presentations, and commentary on contemporary societal developments attract wide audiences. He is the author or editor of fifteen books, including Bloodlands: Europe Between Hitler and Stalin, which has been translated into more than forty languages. His most recent books are On Tyranny, The Road to Unfreedom, and Our Malady, a hospital diary from 2019-20. His work extends from European history, political thought, and ideology to contemporary issues of legitimacy and political order. He is the recipient of honors and awards from countries around the world.
